Sensory Bottles

We saw these at camp today and didn't want to leave them behind so I promised that we'd make some of our own. How'd we do?  We used honey and colored marbles, milk and honey hand soap, water blue food coloring and oil, red food coloring beads and tiny plastic balls. I hot glued the lids on.

Recipes Galore....Salted Caramel Apple

We love these Salted Caramel Apple Fritters. We peeled, cored and sliced 3 apples and put them into a sauce pan. We added 4 tsp of butter to apples and cooked them on medium heat for 7 minutes. (Optional-add a dash of cinnamon). Roll out 4 crescent rolls on greased cookie sheet. (Optional - use parchment paper on cook sheet instead of cooking oil spray. Makes clean up easier). Spoon cooked apples evenly over crescent rolls. Cover apples with remaining crescent rolls and pinch edges together. Sprinkle lightly with salt and bake at 375° for 12 -15 minutes. Drizzle caramel over top of baked fritters. Enjoy! (Optional- we put vanilla bean ice cr am on our warm fritter. Yum!)

Favorite Read Aloud/Going to Bed Book

"In this infectious rhyming read-aloud, Baby Llama turns bedtime into an all-out llama drama! Tucked into bed by his mama, Baby Llama immediately starts worrying when she goes downstairs, and his soft whimpers turn to hollers when she doesn't come right back. But just in time, Mama returns to set things right. Children will relate to Baby Llama's need for comfort, as much as parents will appreciate Mama Llama's reassuring message."

When we read this book, whether is before bedtime or nap time, it's always a repeat.  Once is just not enough, especially if you're an animated reader. The kids fall in love with little llama llama. I also use this book when I'm doing sleep training with toddlers. Once we finish reading, we talk about how mama llama is nearby to comfort if needed and how baby llama didn't have any need to fret. This tends to calm some of their fears and gets them to go to sleep faster and stay asleep longer. Either way it's on our favorite "must read" list.

Favorite Park....Unity Park

Union Park, more commonly known as Castle Park, has quickly become one of my favorites. It is fantasy land extraordinaire. It's has castle like structures, the pirate ship, toddler play area and even a workout station for adults. The play area is fenced in for safety. There are picnic tables and grills surrounding the park and a large pavilion for parties and gatherings. My favorite part of the park is the 3.2 mile walking trail. Some friendly little duck families live at the pond. There are plenty of trees for shade while the kids play and lots of seating for both children and adults.

The park is located off of FM 407 (Justin Rd) on Briarhill Road in Highland Village, TX.

There are so many nut, gluten and dairy allergies among young children that most preschools and daycares have banned certain products from being used in children's lunches. This, Sunflower Butter, is the perfect butter to use for school.

Favorite Read Aloud Book....Mr Brown Can Moo

FAVORITE READ ALOUD BOOK

"Oh, the wonderful things Mr. Brown can do!
He can go like a cow. He can go MOO MOO
Mr. Brown can do it. How about you?

Mr. Brown can also go EEK EEK like a squeaky shoe, COCK A DOODLE DOO like a rooster, and HOO HOO HOO like an owl. Young readers will be able to do so, too, as they follow along on this wacky "word workout" that is perfect for children just learning their sounds and letters."

This book is a fun favorite. The kids love making all the funny noises as we read this book. Long after the story is over, I still hear

what Mr. Brown can do.

Formula made easy

Wish they had this when my babies were little. It's like a Keurig for babies. AWESOME!!!

Baby Brezza Formula Pro

-This revolutionary bottle prep machine eliminates manual measuring or mixing - instead, it heats water to 98.6 degrees, a human’s natural body temperature and ideal for baby feedings, and mixes it automatically with formula powder for a fast, bubble-free bottle. You can store formula powder right in the machine - it has an air-tight space that holds up to 700g of powder for 20 eight-ounce bottles (though you can set it to make two-, four-, six-, eight-, or 10-ounce bottles). The detachable water tank holds 50 ounces of water and is easy to fill and clean. Works with all bottle sizes and formula brands and types.

Convertible Toy

One of my favorites for children ages 2-5 years. In the spring and summer this a great outside activity with water and play sand, bubbles, jello. During the fall and winter it makes a great inside sensory table for "snow" (corn starch and hair conditioner), a winter garden ( coffee grounds mixed with sand and a few toy vegetables or artificial flowers. Wherever your imagination takes you, just have fun.

Recipes Galore...Confetti Waffles

We had so much fun making confetti waffles. They are very easy to make.

Take your favorite waffle or pancake mix and add food coloring. Add to a squeeze bottle for convenience or use small cups for pouring. Cook and enjoy.

Favorite Park.....Andrew Brown Park

I visited this park for the first time and fell in love with it. It's great for children of all ages because they have a Tot Lot and a big kid section. There are lots of trees so there is plenty of shade. One of the best features is it is located just outside of the indoor aquatic center. If you get overheated while playing just go inside and take a dip in the pool. 😊. I'm adding this one to my list of favorites.
The park address is:
 Andrew Brown Park East
260 E Parkway Blvd
Coppell TX 75019

Want kids to eat more fruits and veggies? Try making your own pouches. Kids love to make them and most of the time they will eat the foods they make. We used the following ingredients: spinach, avacado, blue berries, strawberries, banana, peas, vanilla yogurt, local honey (good for allergies; DO NOT USE HONEY WITH CHILDREN UNDER ONE YEAR OLD). Blend and pour into pouches. Choose a variety of fruits and veggies you like, toss them in the blender and voila, Smoothies/Pouches to go. OPTIONAL: add ice or place pouches in freezer for 2-3 hours before serving. Great as an afternoon snack all year round, especially on a hot sunny day. Reusable food pouches can be purchased at you local Wal-Mart store or online at Amazon.com. They come in an assortment of sizes and designes. Choose the ones you think your child would like best. Happy eating.

Favorite Read Aloud Book ....Ten In The Den

Favorite Read Aloud Book: Ten In The Den

Deep in the den, ten sleepy, cuddly animals snuggle up together for the night. But as the animal friends roll over to make more room, one animal after another gently tumbles out of the cozy den...until Little Mouse is left all alone. But Little Mouse misses his friends, so he comes up with the perfect solution to his problem.

HINT: This book can be sung to the tune of "Ten in the Bed" (Roll over, roll over) with a twist.

Read, Read and Reread

Read, Read and Reread

No matter how many times you read it, the story never gets old. We have read "The Five Little Monkeys Play Hide And Seek", so many times that now he is reading it to me and knows when to turn the pages. He even points to the numbers and counts to 12 in the correct order. Children learn so much when you take the time to read to them.
